Sulden lies in the
middle of the National Park Stilfserjoch and belongs to the oldest holiday
resorts of the Alps . 200 years ago, when the
first hotels in the valley appeared, tourism was limited on to the summer
months and discovering and climbing the famous summits around the Ortler.
The
first winter sportsmen came soon appreciating the seclusion of the valley, the
preferential height of 1900 m, and 300 days of sun at the Alpine south side. A
lot has changed since then but not the tradition and the hospitality. Until
today the small place at the foot of the majestic mountains has lost nothing of
its charm.
